Welcome to Skrastins Outdoor Club

Skrastins provides hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and winter walking activities in the foothills and mountains west of Calgary most Fridays of the year. Bus transportation is provided, with pickup locations in the southwest and northwest. We divide into groups to accommodate different levels of fitness and speed.  We welcome new members who are aged 55+ .

General Information:

PLEASE NOTE:  THERE IS A FEE FOR NORDIC CENTRE DAY PASS.  $15 FOR SENIORS (OVER 65), UNDER 65 IS $20.

  • Note:  There are currently 84 members with a -1 status. This number will be reset when it reaches 90.
  • Registration opens at 6 PM on Friday, seven days prior to the trip. Registration closes at 4 PM on the Wednesday prior to the trip.

  • XC-A1 - Banff Trail to Bow Trail to Meadowview return via Banff Trail, return main lodge Trail Rating Blue 15 km elevation +/-180m
  • XC-B1 - Banff Trail to Bow Trail to Banff Connector, return to main lodge via Banff Trail Trail Rating Green/Blue 12 km, elevation +/-180m
  • XC-B2 - Banff Trail to Bow Trail to Banff Connector, return to main lodge via Banff Trail Trail Rating Green/Blue 12 km, elevation +/-180m
  • XC-C - Banff Trail Loop, return to main lodge Trail Rating Easy 6.5 km, elevation +/- 180m
  • SS-A1 - Nordic Centre along road, cross road at north side of reservoir, go around reservoir to Upper Grassi Lake Trail, take trail until Grassi Lakes (staying on north side), then take Riders of Rohan to Powerline, Powerline to Quarry Lake and then into town on roads - Approx 15 km 200m This is Gerry's map, along with the Grassi Lakes Upper Trail avoiding the closed Grassi Lakes Interpretative trail.
